TITSA Increases Daily Services by 700 Since 2022, Reaching Two Million Annual Journeys in Tenerife

Titsa, the transport company of the Cabildo de Tenerife, conducted 713 more daily journeys last year than in 2022, reaching a total of two million annual expeditions. The 2025 fiscal year concluded with 87 million passengers transported, which represents more than double the 40 million since the introduction of free travel on 1 January 2023. Compared to 2024, the growth amounted to five million travellers, a 6.13% increase, labelled “historic”. This analysis was provided by the island president, Rosa Dávila, during a review at the company’s depots and workshops in Cuevas Blancas, southwest of Santa Cruz. She highlighted a 300% increase in the Corporation’s investment over the two and a half years of the current CC and PP government.

Key Data

Dávila was accompanied by the Councillor for Mobility of the Cabildo, Eulalia García, and the manager of Titsa, Victoria Padilla. They provided additional data, including details of the main lines in terms of demand, which are those in the south, with a total of 21 million passengers (four million on line 467 alone), and lines 014 (five million) and 015 (three million), both in the Metropolitan Area. The increase in daily expeditions has not prevented a 7.66% reduction in CO2 emissions between 2024 and 2025, thanks to “a more efficient and modern network”, even with 2.3 million more kilometres travelled than the previous year, totalling 42 million across the entire island for the first time surpassing the 40 million barrier.

New Buses

Among other initiatives, this exponential increase in investment allowed for the acquisition of 342 new buses since 2023, including 70 set to arrive in Tenerife before next summer, featuring 13 double-decker buses for long-distance routes. An additional 25 are expected to be purchased in the first quarter of this year, a new development highlighted by the president. In total, 450 vehicles will create a renewed, modern, and eco-friendly fleet between 2026 and 2027.

42 Million Kilometres

Eulalia García praised the efforts of the Titsa team, which “has been essential for achieving the extraordinary figures reported for 2025”. Among the achievements, she highlighted the record number of kilometres travelled and journeys made. “We have surpassed 40 million kilometres for the first time, completing a total of 42 million, which is 6.5 million more than in 2024,” noted the councillor. In terms of journeys, “there were nearly 100,000 more than the previous year, reaching two million for the first time,” she emphasised.

Staff Reinforcement

These figures, García pointed out, “have been supported by an increase in the workforce, with 376 professionals joining since 2022, bringing the total to 2,196”. Meanwhile, Titsa’s CEO, Victoria Padilla, expressed her gratitude to all Titsa employees whose daily efforts and commitment have been crucial for achieving these figures.

The Freefare

Rosa Dávila praised the free fare policy, “for which we have fought hard, even in national Parliament; a measure that is “contributing to decongesting the roads and promoting public transport use, making it indispensable.” The president concluded by thanking the efforts of Titsa professionals, whom she described as “a fundamental pillar in this shift in the island’s mobility.”

The Future

“We are preparing Titsa for the future,” Dávila asserted, “equipping it with the resources and necessary tools to offer a more capable bus service focused on enhancing user experience.” She called on the public to “support the buses, join this green revolution, and utilise this network, which is theirs, to collectively build the mobility we want on our island, where public transport gains increasing importance,” she underscored.
