The First Intercity Bus in Puerto de la Cruz
The first intercity bus service in Puerto de la Cruz, line 385 (Durazno-Botánico-Taoro-Station), will commence operations on Monday, 9th February. This was reported by the Sustainable City department of the Puerto de la Cruz Town Council. Titsa will manage the service.
Strategic Points in Puerto de la Cruz
The service will operate from Monday to Friday, from 7:30 AM to 9:15 PM, linking various strategic points in the tourist hub of northern Tenerife. The service will run approximately every 40 minutes.
Using the Same Titsa Ticket
Line 385 will start from the Puerto de la Cruz station, covering key areas such as El Durazno, the Botánico surroundings, Taoro Park, and the health centre, before returning to the station. To use the new line, only the standard Titsa ticket is required.
Provisional Land Lease and Improvements Over Half a Million
Under an agreement with the Cabildo of Tenerife, the Puerto de la Cruz Town Council will temporarily lease a municipal plot to Titsa in the Piedra Redonda industrial estate. This area will be designated for bus parking, and improvement works will exceed 500,000 euros.
Outcome of a Longstanding Agreement
The new intercity bus line “is the result of an agreement that was worked on for several years and required negotiations with the Cabildo of Tenerife,” acknowledged David Hernández (ACP), the councillor for Sustainable City. “It is true that it wasn’t as simple and quick as we expected due to painting and signage issues, but as soon as the agreement was signed, we began to implement it,” he stated.
Mobility Enhancements
The launch of this intercity bus service will make it easier and more convenient to access healthcare, educational, and commercial centres, strengthening connections between the districts of the tourist city. These are some mobility improvements highlighted by Hernández. “These are long-demanded services that have never been achieved,” he added.
Examples of Connectivity
“Line 385 will enable residents of El Taoro to finally have public transport to reach healthcare centres or homes; residents in the Botánico area can use the bus to get to the clinic; and neighbourhoods will be connected via routes such as Luis Rodríguez Figueroa in El Botánico, serving those living far from current stops,” Hernández concluded.
